Resolution adopted by the General Assembly on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran on December 17, 2015. The resolution was passed in the third committee during seventieth session of the General Assembly in November 2015 by a vote of 81 in favor, 37 against, with 67 abstentions.
The resolution passed on November 19th, with 76 votes in favor of the resolution, and 35 votes against it. 68

The report is submitted in accordance with General Assembly resolution 69/190, in which the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to report to it at its seventieth session on the progress made in the implementation of the resolution. The report reflects patterns and trends in terms of the human rights situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran and includes recommendations to improve the implementation of the resolution.

Resolution adopted by the General Assembly on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran on December 18, 2014. The resolution was passed in the third committee during sixty-ninth session of the General Assembly in November 2014 by a vote of 83 in favor, 35 against, with 68 abstentions.

The present report is submitted in accordance with General Assembly resolution 68/184, in which the Assembly requested that the Secretary-General submit a report to it at its sixty-ninth session. The report indicates the patterns and trends in the human rights situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran and describes the progress made in the implementation of the resolution. It also contains recommendations aimed at improving the human rights situation. In resolution 68/184, the Assembly called upon the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to address the substantive concerns highlighted in the previous reports of the Secretary General and to respect fully its human rights obligations, in law and in practice, in relation to a number of specifically identified concerns.

The resolution was passed in the third committee during sixty-eighth session of the General Assembly in November 2013 by a vote of 86 in favor, 36 against, with 61 abstentions.

The present report is submitted in accordance with General Assembly resolution 67/182, in which the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to report to it at its sixty-eighth session. The report reflects the patterns and trends in the human rights situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran and provides information on the progress made in the implementation of the resolution, including recommendations to improve its implementation. In its resolution 67/182, the General Assembly called upon the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to address the substantive concerns highlighted in the previous report of the Secretary General (A/67/327) and to respect fully its human rights obligations, in law and in practice, in relation to a number of specifically identified concerns.

The Secretary-General has the honour to transmit to the members of the General Assembly the report on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran submitted by the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights, Ahmed Shaheed, in accordance with Human Rights Council resolution 16/9. The Special Rapporteur presented his first interim report to the General Assembly during its sixty-sixth session, and submitted his first report to the Human Rights Council during its nineteenth session. The Human Rights Council extended the mandate of the Special Rapporteur during that session. The present report does not cover all potential violations of human rights in the country, but provides an overview of the prevailing human rights situation, with a focus on systemic issues that pose obstacles to the ability of the Islamic Republic of Iran to comply with its international obligations.
