GENEVA (8 August 2014) – United Nations human rights experts* today expressed grave concern over the recent escalating trend of arrest and sentencing of individuals exercising their rights to freedom of expression and opinion, peaceful assembly and association.
GENEVA (5 June 2014) – A group of United Nations human rights experts* expressed outrage at the execution of political prisoner Gholamreza Khosravi Savadjani on 1 June and urged the Government to put an end to executions once and for all.
Mr. Khosravi was arrested in 2008 and initially sentenced to six years in prison for alleged espionage by a Revolutionary Court.

GENEVA (12 March 2014) – The United Nations Special Rapporteurs* on the situation of human rights in Iran, on summary executions, on torture, and on violence against women expressed alarm today at the ongoing spike in executions in the country; which recently included the hanging of a former child bride amid questionable circumstances.

This report is the second to be submitted to the Human Rights Council during its 22nd session, pursuant to Council resolution 16/9, and communicates developments in the human rights situation of the Islamic Republic of Iran that have transpired since the submission of the Special Rapporteur’s second interim report to the 67th session of the General Assembly (A/67/369) in October 2012.
