Impact Iran Coalition Members at UN Forum on Minority Issues’ 17th Session

 The 17th Session of the Forum on Minority issues took place between 28-29 November 2024, and included interventions from several representatives of Impact Iran coalition member organizations, including KMMK-G’s Shena Razabi, who emphasized human rights abuses by Iranian authorities against Kurdish people, despite experiencing multiple interruptions from the Islamic Republic of Iran during her remarks. Also present was the Association for the Human Rights of the Azerbaijani people in Iran’s Shahin Khyavi, who spoke during the Forum’s 2nd meeting, which focused on minority representation in education. Khyavi, on behalf of AHRAZ, shed light on the Islamic Republican of Iran’s emphasis on “centralizing the dominant identity, overshadowing the existence of different ethnic and linguistic groups”.
