76th Session of the UNGA: Resolution on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran

On December 16th 2021, The United Nations General Assembly adopted the resolution on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran, which passed with 78 YES votes, 31 NO votes, and 69 abstentions. This vote follows the adoption of the same resolution by the Third Committee on November 17, which passed with 79 YES votes (41%), 30 NO votes (15%), 71 abstentions (37%), and 13 non-participations. Impact Iran joined a number of civil society organizations (including coalition members) in publishing a joint statement, urging UN member states to support the resolution (read here).
